As the editor-in-chief at SevenPonds.com, I only had the pleasure of working with Melissa for six months, but during that time I developed a tremendous respect for her can-do attitude, enthusiasm, and professionalism. Missi's writing is always engaging and crisp, and she has the unique ability to approach even mundane topics with panache.

If you are in the market for a creative professional who will give 110 percent to every project that comes her way, make Melissa your first choice.

I worked with Melissa to develop online educational content for cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease with a focus on video scripts and infographics. Melissa produced a lot of high-quality content quickly.  She is able to distill complicated information while maintaining technical rigor. Additionally, Melissa is open to and excited about mastering new skills.  Her organizational talent,  professionalism, and superior communication ability made her a true pleasure to work with.

Tap Into Your Hidden Super POWER to Succeed

Professional Writers' Alliance, April 29, 2019

Kaboom! Shazam! Pow! Don your cloak and stand strong, because you have it within you to be a superhero.

Not quite feeling it just this second? Take heart. Even if you lack degrees, years of experience, or miles of testimonials, you CAN be a hero to your clients. All you need to do is demonstrate the five character traits clients value well above any specific credential or skill set. These traits are what give you real P-O-W-E-R as a working writer.

Persistence

Never giving up may be an ability you didn’t even know you had, but what an asset it is to a client. If you keep working on a project until you get it right, doggedly reconsidering, revising, and rewriting, then you’ve got persistence. This is a priceless trait. (Have you ever worked with people who give up or shy away at the first sign of difficulty?) Acknowledge the value of your persistence.

Optimism

Have you ever worked with someone who thought everything was impossible and preached non-stop doom and gloom? A co-worker who was negative from the outset? Don’t be that person!

No one likes a naysayer. Tap into your inner Pollyanna and be upbeat and positive. (And if someone calls you a Pollyanna, take that as a compliment, not an insult.) See the best in others. Look for the good in difficult situations. Believe that you can accomplish great things. Your client will love you for it.

Wonderment

If you’re a writer, you’ve retained that sense of wonder from childhood. It dissipates in most people as they age, but not you. You are still amazed at those interesting tidbits of trivia that bubble up during research. You still feel delight when newly combined words create a sizzle that wasn’t there before. You get a ripple of pleasure from piecing words and information together to persuade people.

Wave that sense of wonder like the rare and special weapon it is. Feel its strength seeping into your writing and sliding into smiles on your client’s face. Being jaded is NOT an asset. Having a sense of wonder is.

Enthusiasm

Did you know that enthusiasm is contagious? If you are excited about your work, your clients will be, too. One study showed that enthusiasm rubs off on customers and co-workers and increases productivity, creativity, and length of time with an employer. Best of all, enthusiasm creates more passionate customers and more profit. Isn’t that exactly what you want for your clients? (Their profits and your profits are intertwined, after all).

Living the writer’s life is reason to be enthusiastic. We love what we do. Let it show.

Respect

It’s been said that the sincerest form of respect is listening to someone. Show your respect for clients by listening carefully to their needs and ideas. (Remember the guy who always wants to talk instead of listen?) Devote yourself to your client’s success. Respect the hard work, vision, and effort they have put into their business. Respect their feelings. It might mean nothing to you, but it could mean everything to them.

It’s like a math equation. Respect becomes mutual. Mutual respect leads to strong relationships and more work. More work = More income for you. And more income, well you be the judge of what that means. . .

Put it all together and you’ve got real P-O-W-E-R and the potential for increased income as clients come to know you for the writing hero you are.
